I wish it would give you a "confirmation" for entering the contest. Logging in just looks regular. If you log in regular it automatically applies you without telling you? That seems fishy to me? Doubt I'll ever win :(

Thanks for posting. Signed up too. As if they'd give a gold coin away...

Of course they would give one away. Why not its a great tax write off. Buy it at under spot, then give it away. Write off the actual value of the coin as a loss. I.E buy at $1650 they sale at $1780, so they can claim a $1780 loss on their taxes. On top of that it gets alot of hits on their site. How many times have you been there and simply log in to enter then leave the site? I use them for checking the spot price and I find myself side tracked looking at misc stuff all the time....

dynamic eagles That's not how taxes work, at least not in the US. You're on the right track, tho. Contests are just another business expense, in this case, advertising. They pay $1800 for the coin. You have to check in to the site to try to win. 18,000 people log in, so it costs them a dime each to get those people to at least remember their name once a month. No difference than paying ccf a dime when someone clicks on their banner, so the coin is written off as an advertising expense.
