I bought this several years ago at a little antique store and today was the 1st time I really looked at it. These are the best pictures I can get but wanted to know what I can look for to determine what year it is.

You could try all sorts of magnifying glasses but unless your eyes are great, just be guessing. The photo is so bad not a chance seeing a date here. Try some more photos.

look at the reverse and see if there is a weak N on the reverse of the coin

The 1877 IH cents I have seen, the "N" in ONE is weak in the lower right corner.

The one posted looks bold, I would not go with it being a 1877

The date area is pretty sketchy from what I see--it could be a lot of dates.
With GoldRush--it's a "Bold N" reverse. 1877 Proofs had a bold N, but the date would need to be confirmed.
Send it to Rick Snow, he could give you a definitive answer.
