Nothing rare but I thought it was cool finding a 2010-P Native American dollar in circulation. I made a small purchase at work and asked the cashier if they had any dollar coins or halves I could get for my change. This is what they gave me. I really hate the edge lettering though. I'd collect these for sure if the dates were still on the front of the coin. Besides the edges are hard to see anyways.

Our change machine at works gives them out like candy. All of our vending machines us dollar coins. So I will cash a $10 or $20 for my change for vending and pull anything out I might want to save. We seem to get every issue there is, many BU from the mint.
Because of my work, you do tend to see them all over town.

I work in the liquor store from time to time when my work needs me, and I have seen a handful used to buy lotto tickets. Most people claim to have gotten them from either the post office, or in change for a train ticket.

I was at a gas station the other day, in Dallas, and saw the bin had a few gold dollars. I immediately bought $20 worth, and found a P and D 2011 Sac.

As of the last time I checked, you could still get them at face from the mint as part of their "circulating dollars" program. They're kind of fun to spend in odd places where people have never seen them before. I had one cashier take about 15 seconds to try and figure out what one was.

It has been quite a while since I have seen a baby dollar in change. When all of the local post office branches changed their vending machines to electronic payment, I lost my best retail source.

jbuck, you could try ice cream vending machines. The mall near me had one that, if you put in 4 quarters and pressed the return change button, would give you back a golden dollar, but unfortunately they took the machine out. And I don't like trying any machines in other places in case they don't return my money and I end up having to buy an ice cream... don't get me wrong I like ice cream, just not at the wrong times :(

So, you're saying worst case is, I would have to take a Sports Bar? I could live with that... "Honey, it was a risk we knew was there when we started coin searching; I had to eat it, I can't let our assets melt"
