It's interesting now that gold is about to overtake platinum. It is practically 1 to 1 right now. I wonder if we will ever see days again when gold bullion is actually faked using gold plated platinum?

Certainly looks like platinum could now be a 'toe in the water' exercise, for those who could start an interest..

Pt should be available in 1/10 or 1/20 oz amounts.

I Would not be surprised to see PM asset allocation models start to kick in here.

When silver hit 50 they used a 30 to 1 ratio and moved into gold at around 1500. That trade is looking good.

I am going to swap some physical Au for Pt today. I already did the Pt buy yesterday and need to dump the Au locally this am. Also, I am going to add some Pd here with the Au proceeds. My initial idea was to sell the Au in a week or so but this mornings bump up just sped it up.

My cost basis on the Au that I am swapping is around $800..Ergo not going to sweat it even if it falls apart.

It's going to be bumpy ride for a while in here... buckle up

I saw a comparison about how much gold, how much platinum was ever mined or found. The amount of gold ever found would fill two Olympic sized swimming pools (I would love to walk across that pool)! The amount of platinum found would fill an average sized living room. Amazing visual. I looked at the mint and a ounce platinum coin is $2078, about $168 more than a proof gold Buffalo. I'm tempted but I just love those proof Buffaloes so that's what I bought. Does anyone else think that this could be a really low mintage year for the proof Buffalo due to first ever super high price levels?
