Hi all, new guy here. I have a coin that I noticed has what looks like letters underneath letters in Half Cent. Did this kind of thing happen back in this era of coin minting ? Did I run into something very valualbe here ? I think the coin would grade at least an AU50. I can't post pictures because they are 1.8 MB. Maybe I can compress these ? they are jpg's. Any comments appreciated.
Thx KK, I resized my images to 38 KB and they are normal jpg files with normal addresses. Can't figure out why I keep getting the 3 possible errors message. Thx for the reply. I asked for some help and will include pics as soon as I figure it out.
sorry, I don't see any link to add images like there was when I initiated the post. Guess I can start a new thread if there's no other way to show you the error messages, thx
Hi , it seemed to have worked this time, guess that's all that's important
The "H" "L" & "F" do look like they were smeared in the die process as you mentioned. Would that cause the shadowing of the letters underneath that looks like it could have been stamped twice ? Does this make the coin more valuable ? Do you think it would grade as an AU55 or 58 ?
I would think that if it was post minting damage there would be accompanying gouges nearby. About the doubling look, it is much more visible through a 15X glass. Each letter has a shadow below part of it. Maybe I can get a magnified picture to show it better. thx
