So I'm not much of a coin collector but I've had this coin for my whole life and was wondering if it had any value? it seems to be some kinda roman/greek coin but it seems too complete to be that old so I susppect a reproduction or flat out fake. seems to be made of bronze as it has some green spots which I believe is oxidized copper-yet has some gold shimmer to it. measures 1.5in diameter and weights 24.6 grams. with limited research it seems to resemble a philip of macedonia but once again looks too good tobe real. any ideas?

Phillip II of Macedonia. Don't know if it's a copy or not Hawk.359-337 BC. It's worth around six grand if it's real. I hope it's real Hawk. There's one on ebay right now.

Sorry to say but it's not a real coin.

Yeah, I think the weight is way off and the edge would be flat on the obverse. It's fun to dream though!

Well thank you all for the speedy responses. My gut feeling told me it was fake, but like stated, it was nice to dream. maybe I'll read around here and pick up a little hobby.

Careful about "picking up a little hobby". It can be expensive, and for me, all consuming. In truth, its a great hobby, especially if you love history.

Not too good to be real since these can be found in fantastic condition. This one is too fake to be real though with the style being utterly modern and nothing like that found on the real thing.
