Bingo. Back out of the closet. Just talked with Stacks. They will take my medal raw. Got the stats. from William Swoger on the medal. 75 total minted, 65 made it out. Weights and diameters differed on these. 68 to 71+ m.m. 154 to 160+ grams. Width and height are not uniform. Die scratches etc. Mine went 69.5 m.m. east to west and 71.2 m.m north to south. Tad over 155 grams on my cheapo scale. There is also a rarer nickel large version as well as another silver. http://www.stacksbowers.com/Auction...1925%20norse

Thanks for the info. I went to one of those hotel gold and silver buyers etc. just for kicks. Had them look at a few of my coins. While I was there this couple brought in a Tiffany serving tray about the size of a small pig along with a huge tea pot. Gee, I wonder what they got for them ? As I was walking out I saw the tray and pot on the floor near a wall with tons of bags of silver, coins, jewlery etc. just stacked up on the floor up about 3 feet. Oh boy ! Two young girls and one young guy working there and no security or police around. Small meeting room very close to the door to the outside rear parking lot and not many guests or cars around either. Hotel was up on a small hill in the boonies about a quarter mile from a highway. U'mmm glad that I am not a crook. I think :)I'll tell ya though, the little horns started to sprout for about a second or two. Also, Does anyone have access to the NGC population report ? I am not a member so I cannot access it. It would be in regards to the posted medal. Thank you.

Hi
I just received some pretty good info from someone at Stacks and Bowers. He was kind enough to send me along 4 pages from Swogers book and 7 pages from a 1995 issue of FUN-Topics magazine. Only problem is they are all in PDF format and all 11 pages are over the upload limit file size wise. These are all pertaining to the Norse Medals. History, mintages, types etc. If there is a way I can post them on here let me know. If not, PM me and I will send them along to you if like.

Hope yours works out. This is why the guy who sold it to you should have done a lot more research.

Sent you a PM, Indian1. It's a lovely medal, no matter how it turns out - and good luck with the auction!

Well, the verdict is in on this one. Just came back today from NGC to Stacks/Bowers. Hoped for one grade higher but i'll take it. That slab must be a monster. NGC misspelled "American" on the label but ? Hey what the heck, not bad for a $20.00 paper weight :) I was pretty happy with Stacks fees on the grading etc. They only charged me $55.00 total for everything. The medal will be up for auction at the Whitman Coin & Collectibles Baltimore Expo. November 17th. Might turn out to be a pretty decent B-day present for me. 4 days late but what the heck. Wish me luck and don't forget to bid, all you token heads :) (Only 5K reserve) Thanks all again for your input. http://i1020.photobucket.com/albums...dal-ms62.jpg
