Just like ebay, a realtor, or a stockbroker--they make their cut whether you make anything or not.

Yup. Hey, that's what business is all about.
They are a pro group and get results.
No more eBay/paypal for me. Heck, these guys only take 5%
With ebay and their cohort playpal they get 12% total.
And you have no say whatsoever in anything.
No more spam/scam emails anymore either.

Rest in Peace

On an item of that price you can usually negotiate to pay no sellers fee. Yes the fees are negotiable depending on the item. Yes Stacks makes good money but it costs a fair amount to produce a good catalog. Their mailing lists are extensive as well.

Yup, least I can do on the libations :)
Maybe even smoke the old "PEACE" pipe
You should see the catalogue that they sent me for free
just for this auction. Wicked nice. Came u.p.s and weighed a ton. Over 10,000 lots listed. The medal was on page 8 and took
up half of a single page. All thick glossy pages. Class act
these guys. Well, at least until I get my check. Or I should say if I do not :)

Interesting thread. I have collected Norse Medals for many years and wish I could have been here when this was first posted and let you know what a fine rare Norse Medal you bought for 20 dollars. I had seen it at a coin show along with a few in gold back in the late 1980s. Congratulations.

Hi Jay

Welcome aboard by the way.
It was an interesting ordeal all along.
When the guy first handed it to me I thought,
what the heck is this hexagon shaped chunk of silvery
metal. He wanted 20 for it and I figured it must have some silver in it at the least. And at 5 troy ozs. I can take a shot at it. In reality it is just silver plated and total metal content value of only about $2.00 :)if that.
Glad I took the time to research it both on here (CCF)
and on my own. Too bad it did not grade 1 more up but the grade it got matched my own. Stacks etc. even thought it should of been higher. Pretty cool though to have had one of only a handful of something. U'mm, that didn't come out
so well did it You know what I mean
Check will be in the mail Jan. 3rd.
Now I have to go back to that same antique dealer and see
what is floating around there. Imagine finding another one ?

Well, it is better that you found it than me as I would have had the dilemma of whether I could afford to keep it or sell it. And it is a .. HANDFULL of one ... being five ounces and all.

Wow! That is one amazing story. Glad to hear you did well.

Did you ever get your check? Did you go out and spend it on a bunch of coins?
