Here is an interesting article out of an old coin book.

WOW is that a scarry story from out of an old coin book. Not sure how old that is but just to mention the name and address of an individual with a coin or coins worth thousands of dollars anytime in the past is just plain DUMB. Even just STUPID. Also, stating he is a coin collector. Just imagine yourself or anyone here posting their names and addresses with a story about your great wealth anywhere in public.
Either this is a fake story or as Conder said, just someone taken in with a fake.
Now back to my counting all my 1959 Wheat Back Cents.
Anyone want to buy one of my 1921D Cents?

Since this is a coin forum and probably mostly collectors as members, I would suspect if any here found or received one all you would hear is MINE, MINE, MINE, MINE.
A dealer might consider selling but many I know would also say MINE, MINE, MINE.

You think that is scary, did you know that in the late 50's and early 60's the ANA actually published directories with the names and addresses of all their members? They finally stopped when a burglary ring was broken up that was using a copy of the ANA directory as a list of potential victims.

Ok, I have been holding onto this for a couple years. I dont want to send it in. How can I tell if it is actually the real thing besides not being magnetic. Help (or its just going back in the safe)

Ok. So, I sent my 43 copper into ANACS for grading. It came back as an N9 - stamped fake. Gotta keep on looking. Just another something for the safe. I'd like to know who stamped it so I can stomp them.

Im same as badthad thank you for let us know the outcome !
I just dont think they have the right to stamp on your coin , the maximum would be fake on the slab's title .
When I saw your coin first time I though the 3 lil suspect but I never saw a real 43 copper so couldnt help you ... Anyway defnately worth the shot , I would do the same .

Folks, they didn't stamp anything ON THE COIN. It came back with a label on the body bag with the code "N9" which means "Stamped Fake".

Struck fake= created with spurious dies and struck on a copper planchet with a press

It is much nicer than the usual "copper" 1943s which are either altered dates or plated, but also much more dangerous for collectors.

I found a non silver in color 1943 cent in circulation
the color was very strange though and I could tell immediately it was just plated
sure enough it was sucked right up by a magnet
