Found a bargain bin yesterday in a local shop. Made a few purchases, was curious if you guys think I did ok:

1916 Walker (key date but not in great shape). I would say its in Good condition. Moddow and date are clear. Thats about it. Got it for 30 bucks.

1909 Barber Half. I know its a common date, but for 20 bucks, I just felt it was a decent buy.

Without seeing pictures, how did I do?

Thanks!

coooool. do you think I did well on the walker and that kind of cancelled out overpaying for the barber? I'm mainly a Franklin half collector so I dont know much about walkers or barbers. I know a key date when I see one, but is 20 bucks for a 1909 barber too much or is that about right?

thanks again!

That would depend strongly on the condition. $20 would be in the right neighborhood for a VG example, but an F example, $20 would be a pretty nice deal.

If the walker is a problem free G, I think it would still make up for the barber even in the worst condition because the barber would still be worth melt. But as Nod2003 said it would depend on condition. If the barber is nice, maybe you could come out ahead on both coins.

Ok, understood. I will try to post some pics, but I dont think the Barber is anything to really get excited about. Probably worth a tiny premium over melt, if that. The Walker is a 1916, which makes it cool in my book regardless. Maybe I will just wait until Silver is at $500/oz and sell the Barber, haha.

You are right. I'm happy about the Walker, but I guess I just wanted to know a little more about the Barber before I decided if I was happy with it or not! I think after the advice I have gotten, I am happy and thanks again to everyone for helping me out. I will still try to post some pics, just to share.
