Yes.. NLP Coins is the 'small 9' variety, and the OP's coin looks to have been lightly cleaned.

IMHO, I believe it to be cleaned. I am looking at the two "G's" on the obverse, and there seems to be some tarnishing there, but no where else. I see two light sources, one from about 12 o'clock and the other from about 6 o'clock, and the A in " land" still shows some spots in the lower part of the letter.

If the seller on ebay is a reputable coin dealer he will always diclose that the coin has been cleaned. I have sold several cleaned coins that I have bought, and have always informed the buyer that is a cleaned coin. You usually don't get as much money for them but I have never had a customer come back and complain because he knew it before he bid on it. If you don't disclose it, your cheating your customers and they don't come back.

I appreciate the member's opinions on whether a coin is cleaned or not. But I am curious. When a coin is taken from an ebay auction and comments are made, are there any legalities involved? Is there a point where a person can be sued for expressing an opinion? Dukester

Sellers are always given the chance of rebuttal in ebay comments. Also ebay does have a process for appealing a comment left, which I believe favours sellers (IMHO). As far as being sued (I am not a lawyer, this is not legal advice, if you require such advice, consult a lawyer) I'm fairly certain that you can be, if you go over the line with it. Where that line lies probably depends a bit on the jurisdiction, but in any event libel laws would likely extend to ebay feedback (in the extreme cases). Must better to stick to facts. The seller in this case didn't advertise it as a cleaned coin, but also didn't offer a grading opinion (they said high grade "details" which is almost meaningless). Additionally they will likely fall back on the "ask before you buy" defence to anything negative. If the coin hasn't shipped, you can probably get out of the deal, and let them 2nd chance it to the next lowest bidder with only a minimal out of pocket expense for the learning experience. Caveat emptor
