Perhaps you'd all be kind enough to grade this and let me know the mint.
Many thanks.

Uncirculated, with some red remaining.

It is surprising how many of the quarter anna coins turn up in this condition.
I have about ten quarter annas from 1862, until 1940, all uncirculated, with varying amounts of red.

The coin has a reverse I since the leaves right below first and last digit of date. It seems like it has Bust A since there seems to be just one flower on the last panel on the obverse.

Bust A/ Reverse I were minted in Calcutta. Check the coin to see if you see an incuse or raised "V" on point of shoulder or bottom center of bust so we can further break down the attribution.

I would grade this coin AU since there is wear on the high points on the crown.

@sel_691 : There are so many 1/4 annas because there were million of them minted. Krause catalog lists the number of 1/4 annas minted with the year 1862 as 507 Million(All mints). Technically speaking even though it is just one year, the same year was used all the way from 1862 to 1874 because of the disbanding of the British East India company that ruled India at the time and including India as a part of the British crown. So we are talking about 507 million coins in 12 years. Compare that to 234 million American Indian Head cents issued from 1862 to 1874 by the united states government.

I like the signs of handwork on the die.
On the reverse, it appears that every letter/digit was positioned independently.

I have a 1906 & 1907 rupee where it looks like the engraver nodded off. Standard issue by the look of it though.

The E is meant to be describing an arc but seems to have dropped a bit. They all seem the same from this series.
And look at the individual letters of INDIA. Respect for the guys that did the engraving though.
