Funny thread on another forum points out people are not only faking NGC and PCGS slabs, they are now faking ANACS too. What's really funny about this slab....notice the number on it....Jenny, I got your number!

Hey! Coin collectors can be cool... well, yeah, it WAS 30 years ago... but, I'm still... oh never mind.
ANA ID: 3203813 - CONECA ID: N-5637 Clean a coin that may be worth collecting? Please DON'T! When in doubt, leave it dirty!!

Of the modern fake slabs the ANACS were the FIRST ones that showed up (March 2007) then NGC (Aug 2007) and finally PCGS (Feb 2008). Hard to believe fake slabs have been with us for 4 years now.

BadThad,
I think we are exceeding your expectations (that we are clueless about cool things). I love that song. And who hasn't dialed it once or twice.

Good to know slab-fakers have a sense of humor. Possibly was suffering from "can't get that tune out of my head" syndrome at the time of the crime...

I'm surprised the chinese counterfeiters aren't actively selling the fake slabs as "replicas" or "reproductions" like they sell their coins. It's just amazing how no hobby is safe.

Might well be one of the reasons the Beanie Babies fell. Many of them were also from China. However, with Hot Wheels almost all of them were always made in some other country so that couldn't have really been their downfall. So far I've never heard of China made US postage stamps. I still wonder how many coin collectors and dealers have faked slabs and/or faked coins in their possesion and don't know.
