I have aluminum siding -- maybe I'll tear it off if the price is right. I'm not crazy about it. Now I have to go look up the price of aluminum....

Copper prices as of last visit to scrap yard
#1 Copper (pipes, bright wire, no solder) 2.80 / lb
#2 Copper (pipes with solder) 2.40 / lb
Brass 1.50 / lb
Aluminum Siding .50 / lb
Insulated Wire, #2 (18 gauge and smaller, as well as anything double insulated
such as extension cords .70 / lb
Insulated Wire #1 (16 gauge and larger ROMEX or THHN) 1.70 / lb

Prices are down right now.

I recycled all of the aluminum siding off a demolition house with permission. $600. The average house has about a hundred in copper pipe. Copper wire adds up fast.

It's the meth heads doin this crap though.

But when you figure that the sprinkler valve that you see in subdivisions on the island at the turnaround at the end of a road is worth about $15 in scrap...and only takes 10 seconds with a battery powered sawzall to remove...you start to realize how easy it is to steal copper.

I turn in all of my copper when prices are high, then convert it to silver. Less bulk.

If you see someone working under their car, call the police. Odds are real good they're stealing the Cadillactic converter.
