I have this Denarius I have tentatively identified as a Diadumenian RIC 104:

OBV: MOPELANTDIADVMENIANCAES - Bare-headed, draped bust right

REV: PRINCIVVENTVTIS - Diadumenian standing left, holding standard and scepter; two standards to right

Am I on the right track?

I agree with your ID, RIC 104.

In discussing this coin on another ancient coin site, I was told it could be either RIC 102 or 105, the difference between the two is that on the reverse of RIC 102, Diadumenian's head is turned facing right, on RIC 105 Diadumenian's head is turned facing left.

Well, I tried to magnify the coin to the point where I might be able to tell which way the head is facing, but the results were definitive. I believe the head is facing right. If so, then it would be RIC 102.

Can anyone else make a determination?

You have much better eyes than I do, I can't tell which way his head is turned. You have the coin in hand so I will defer to your ID.

You are right echizento. Its almost impossible to tell. I have tried every way I know. So I guess it will remain a mystery unless someone else can see it.

All of the RIC 102 variants I have looked at show Diadumenians bust 'from front' whereas your example is clearly 'from rear' so I would rule 102 out.

The 'from rear' bust fits with your 104 estimate.

I've not seen too many examples but RICs 105,106,107,108 and 109 but all also seem to be 'from front' so 104 is looking a pretty good bet.
