very nice I am working some on putting together a Peace dollar date set. I am using the same 7175 Dansco album, and may fill it out over time. Your 1921 looks great.

Thanks Fuzzy. The 21 seems to have a weak strike to me. But, I have one. I saw a MS high relief hard struck 21 the other day. It looks like a different coin. But the $1000++ price tag discouraged me. We went through 4 different ones before we settled on the 21 in the book one.
I would like a better 28S and the 22 has some kind of discoloration on it. I have a second book for the rejects from wife's book. I guess that is my book.

I looked at many many slabbed 21's to find one that had nice hair detail and agree they are hard to come by. Most are weakly struck because of the higher relief.

Did you have a target grade while putting it together? Also if you don't mind me asking, how long did it take to complete the series and at what cost.
I've been working the same set but I've only got the first page complete. It's been taking a while because I'm being very selective, only AU/BU - MS63 goes in and I won't buy the coin if there are major nic's on the face of the coin, for each year/mm I look through Dozens before finding the one.

The '22-P is a standout. It lept off the screen for me. Brilliant luster, tremendous strike, and the mint wash residue actually boosts its' eye appeal rather than taking away, simply because it's such a prototypical Peace dollar feature. At 64 it's a lock for CAC, and I'd believe 65. I'd be a proud man if I owned that coin. Can you post the reverse?

Really Great set, Congrats. The Peace dollar is the nicest design in US history IMO.

I will post some reverses this evening. Superdave, that 22 P doesn't have a bag mark or a any wear under 20x mag. I thought the "mint wash" would pretty much make the coin eye appeal zero to a grade. Glad I posted it here and learned otherwise. I have a 28 that is very close to it. I don't put it in the book because my wife dislikes the mint wash and wants me to take the 22 P out and replace it.

I first worked on getting a complete set that had decent eye appeal. I have been taking out coins and upgrading if I find a better one to replace it. It has been about 10 months in the process. It is not done. I would like to to upgrade a lot of the coins. Some of them maybe more than I want to spend. The 21 in a good hard strike is one that I most likely will not end up with.

Quote:When I say "my" Peace dollar book, it is really my wife's book that we put together. WOW, I'm impresses and a bit jealous too. I've got one question though. Since you pointed out it really is your wife's book, just who does this collection REALLY belong to? Are you sure we all shouldn't be congradulating her? That is a really nice set. I wonder how it would look in a Whitman Album
