Gold is everywhere right now, even the main theme to Ancient Aliens on history channel as of late is all about gold, and how we are genetically connected it, the stars, lol. They even spoke of alchemy being very feasible and showed a scientist do it in the basement of a college, even though the nuclear reactor costs like 200 bucks an hour to run, and it takes over a day to complete the process, which yields a very small amount, so not practical by any means yet....

And gold seems to be tied to the history of the Mormons and the church of Latter day Saint which I find interesting and also pointed out on Ancient Aliens....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golden_plates

Here is a copy an paste from this link above

"Smith said he found the plates on September 22, 1823 at a hill near his home in Manchester, New York after an angel directed him to a buried stone box. The angel at first prevented Smith from taking the plates because he had not followed the angel's instructions. In 1827, on his fourth annual attempt to retrieve the plates, Smith returned home with a heavy object wrapped in a frock, which he then put in a box. Though he allowed others to heft the box, he said that the angel had forbidden him to show the plates to anyone until they had been translated from their original "reformed Egyptian" language. Smith dictated a translation using a seer stone in the bottom of a hat, which he placed over his face to view the words written within the stone. Smith published the translation in 1830 as the Book of Mormon."

I find it interesting/fascinating that the entire basis of the Mormon religion is based on ancient golden plates. I am not saying I believe it or not, and certainly not trying to knock the Mormon religion or the church of latter day Saint esp of some of you are indeed Mormon, to each their own whatever their own personal beliefs. It is just interesting the entire story as far fetched and near impossible to believe as it sounds, centered around GOLD plates non the less....

Hey Silverhawk,I am Mormon and understand how farfetched all that seems but in the last few years in South America they have uncovered plates of various metals that appear to resemble the plates described by Joseph Smith. I have always said the things that seem far fetched become more believable the older we get and the more things that are discovered. I know you are a history channel fan,did you see the one about Apocalypse Island ,related to the end of the Mayan Calendar? Sometimes it just takes someone thinking out of the box to open whole new areas of thought and study. I know that I find many things that others just laugh off interesting enough to explore and it has opened my eyes to many discoveries and concepts that I didn't even know existed.

Yes very interesting. I've learned some good tips from the Mormons on food storage and other preparations for hard times.

Yes, I don't rule anything out Hock as you guys should be able to tell from my posts, lol. And I am open to hear all ideas on many subjects. I have some local mormons from church stop by from time to time, an I enjoy questioning them on the foundation of the religion. As I stated it is hard to believe but very fascinating non the less. No more hard to believe than, Jesus rose from the dead and died for all of mankinds sins....

What ever religion you pick, if you have any belief of life after death, it requires a leap of faith of sorts, and that was a good movie as well, Leap of Faith with Steve Martin, lol....
