I have a very nice Jovian in my collection, but when comparing it to the images on Wildwind, the bust features are totally different. I have checked it on the known forgery lists and found absolutely no die match. Should I be concerned?

Jovian RIC 118; Sirmium Mint; OBV: DNIOVIANVSPFAVG - Diademed, draped and cuirassed bust right; REV: VOT/V/MVLT/X Exe: SIRM - Wreath, legend within.

The coin is genuine, the celator gave the emperor a strong jaw. Nice coin.

Thanks echizento. I like this coin and I really didn't want to find out it was not genuine.

Nice coin - I too think its genuine, the later coins are far less faked as they are not as profitable to the fakers.

You dont often see these later coins in such good condition and as well stamped - an excellent example.

Thanks bobbyhelmet. It is a nice coin isn't it? Where have you been lately? I've missed your opinions and history lessons.

I've found portraits in the Late Roman series to be generally unhelpful when it comes to identifying coins. Portrait style varied over time and from mint to mint, such that portraits of a single emperor can look more like portraits of other emperors than they resemble each other, and (with a few rare exceptions, like Julian II) there are no obvious facial features to make specific emperors distinctive. If I can't read the lettering or at least count how many letters there are, I've got no hope of IDing a coin just from the portrait.
