with Gecko, its a beauty. The letters appear to be Greek and on the left I think it says Athena - (this text box font is bit limited only does English).

Do you know the weight and size? And can you take a photo of the edge of the coin? These things will help with the attribution. Thanks

Thanks guys, I will take more pics this weekend and post. I was getting a little worried with no responses after a couple of days.
It looks to be just over 28mm. Weight I will get this weekend also.

I had an associate look at the coin and here is what he had to say:
"It looks like a Thompson issue 35, 130/9 BC, an Athenian 'New Style' Tetradrachm under magistrates ΘΕΟΦΡÎ'., ΣΩΤÎ'., Î'ΡΙΣΤ., the symbol is a Winged Thunderbolt, there is an ΣΦ below Amphora, and most probably a letter on Amphora I can't really make out. My first impression is that the coin looks perfectly ok. What's the weight? The pitting looks to me like corrossion pitting and only that."
I hope this helps. The weoight will help.
Regards
JW

I need a new scale, used my postage scale and said it was 16g. Hopefully while I am out this weekend I can find a scale and give a much more accurate weight.
I was also told to look at Seaby Vol. 1 Page 239...but can't seem to find the books anywhere for sale.

I don't own a set of Seaby's (even though I would love a set). I use several versions of David Sear's "Roman Coins and their Values". I personally like the older versions in a single volume for quick reference. The new version is in 3 volumes and I find them cumbersome. Of course, I am referring to Roman coins as that is my passion. I know nothing of Greek coins, including very little about Roman coins minted in Greece. I checked on line and you can obtain copies of Seaby's either from Amazon or on ebay. By the way, I never said it before, but that is a lovely coin you have. Good luck

I've showed this to a few people over the last week or so. They've given me a VERY WIDE area of what they think the coin is worth... The low end so far was $525-$560...the high end was quoted at around $975-$1050(?) Anyone think one person is closer to the actual amount? Or are they all off?
