Hello, I have picked up a silver 1 lb. bullion oversized which has gold inlay. On the reverse it is just below the eagles head marked 24kt. H.G.E. Can anyone id this object? Rich

to the forum!

The coin that you have is 1 (troy) lb. of silver. Should weigh 12 troy ounces. This is made by a private mint and is a copy of an American silver eagle ( ASE). As for gold, H.G.E. means heavy gold electroplate. It means its gilded/plated and doesn't have much gold content, so there is really no premium added. This would just be considered a bullion coin.
Rest in Peace

Please post the reverse.

Unless it says 999 fine silver on the reverse or on the edge, it may only be gold plate over copper, perhaps with a silver plate.

Can you weigh it accurately? A pound of silver weighs 5760 grains/185.19 grams/12 oz troy. A pound of copper weighs 7000 grains/246.91 grams/16 oz av.

If it's a pound of silver, it's a $516 doorstop; copper, about $4.50.
