In Charlton Monograph 4 coin book Jack Griffin catalogued this variety as GR-703c with a rarity 8.
The rarity is the E:D instead of F:D on the obverse legend plus a few other markers.

My question is how rare do you think it would rate now and what kind of premium would it bring?
Thank you to all who reply.

Wow. I didn't even know about that condition until.

I notice on ebay someone is selling one of these in F-15 condition for $895.

I'm not sure of the premium it would bring. They are scarce. Most people don't look at Provincials for varieties so you are after the hard core variety hound on something like this. If it were me, I would put it a way for a few years and see where the market goes.

If I was in the market to buy one, I would be looking for the variety to cherrypick rather than pay big money for it. Since we don't know how rare it is, it is too big a chance to take. It could turn out like the 1909 ML C/B 5 cent piece. Charlton lists "only 4 known". Well there are at least 20 or 30 known pieces out there at the moment. There is now doubt it is scarce, but with people starting to look for them, they numbers will only go up.

Sorry for the late reply I have been working up North in BC with very little Internet service back till Monday now.

Yes it might be a good one to look for and hang on to, I do see the odd one around but like you say Dan they are scarce I know of 6 or 7 with 4 different people but none would grade over EF condition most fine to very fine.
For one in f-15 for $895.00 seems a little steep to me as well but I think in MS it could go to that price?

I was more interested in getting some info from other collectors on there thoughts on where this coin might be headed, but with the right offer on this coin a dream could come true.
