Hi folks,
Not really sure where to start on this one.
I don't see any date and the crescent and star on the box is backwards for any Islamic flag I have seen. Can any one identify the piece or at least country of origin?
Thank you kindly! =)

I can't find any numerals on it - date or denomination. Nice design - maybe a medal?

The first photo shows the Kaaba shrine in Mecca, their most sacred site, and the destination of the Hajj pilgrimage.
My guess is a keepsake for pilgrims to Mecca.

Thanks guys, good food for thought.
I'm still confused about the backwards crescent and star. It looks like the Pakistani flag, only with the convex side of the crescent facing the star instead of the concave side.

This post might not be helpful at all. I only mention it because I did a recent search for "crescent & star" a while back. And that is displayed in this topic. I wanted to find out just what countries used "crescent & star" and found a number of them. So it doesn't really have to be Pakistan.
