SP and HC is right. I believe it should be higher than the 66 given it by ICCS.Here's a more accurate obverse photo. The mark to left of portrait on field is there.

ICCS tends to be pretty fussy with specimen strikes, much more so than PL or Numismatic BU.

my grade would be SP64HC because of the slight impairment. how can you have anything higher than a SP65 with marks, MS yes, SP no.

Welcome to the Forum J.
I popped by an Edmonton Numismatic Society meeting when I was out there in May. I saw quite a few folks (David, Howard, Ray, Randy, Bob, Dan and others), but I did not see you there. The newsletter seems to be thriving in my absence!
I hope all is well...

Can we speak freely on this forum? or will we get kicked off? LOL. anyway, I have banished from the coin club by the family...too much of an individual hobby they say. However, old habbits die hard. SPP- after you left I came up with the idea to have regular columnists covering 5 different topic. that way the editor would not be stuck with writing the whole thing, like you were. Matt got the thing off the ground immediately, and Roger has taken over seamlessly. They won newsletter of the year at the RCNA. SPP- do you have any quarters with ultra Heavey cameo? J

The only 25c I have in ultra heavy cameo is my birth year, as a PL strike. Did you like that 1973 PL cameo 25c you got from me? I think I found a better one... tough year for cameos...

Z- I thought the specimens had a matt finish or was that later? The obverse looks proof the reverse looks bu or is it the lighting?

MrC- no, the 1970 specimens look very similar to PLs of that year, except the blanks are handled better, and the striking force is greater. They are not matte, or purposely frosted or anything. This one however does exhibit some cameo
