Please grade and value. The obverse has a little more eye appeal and sharpness than the pic shows. I know that she is a bit beat up but she I think she has VF details. If she does I believe I made a good buy! All feedback is welcome!

Details without the garffitti are VF-35.

Thanks for the grades! I purchased this coin for $38.00. RedBook lists this coin for $65.00 in G-4 and $130.00 in VF. I know the value is not going to be $130.00. I have read that damage/cleaning will lower the value of a coin by a grade or two... which would make this coin VG and around an $80.00 value.

I like to have some coins in my collection that have some... character. So I when I purchase more I want to make informed buys.

A few of my local dealers offer coins that are damaged and/or cleaned with VF and better detail for close to and under a G-4 price. Is G-4 pricing the commonly excepted value coins like this, or am I getting a better than average deal, or am I paying over fair market value?

Your advice and experience is appreciated!

Generally cleaned/damaged/very low grade coins are priced significantly lower than might be expected because most serious collectors (a very vague description, I know) prefer eye catching, high grade examples. While I have some so called 'problem' coins, I and trying not to get any more after what I have seen in my experience. it's definitely a good way to fill a hole in a type set, but try and get the best coin your money can get instead of multiple lower grade ones. That's my Two Cents.

Possibly full EF details. I think you did just fine at $38. Greysheet bid in Good is $46. Barely over double scrap silver price for a 172 year old half is a no-brainer.
Rest in Peace
