I have been browsing ebay for silver Canada half dollars for 65, 66, and 67. I am a little confused. Many are advertised as PL or UNC but yet from the photos provided some just don't look good like the ones that have white hazing or spotting.

Remember, everyone has there own way of grading a coin and that should almost certainly apply to circulating coins but, should a person be referring to a MINT STATE, PL, or UNC coin then to my mind that coin should be third party graded unless it is sealed from the mint.
If a coin is shown in a raw state on ebay or elsewhere then to my way of thinking it is nothing more than a circulating coin and should be treated as such.

An individual (IMO) must be able to tell the differance between a Circulating coin and a Proof Like coin (mint sets) because the differance can mean hundreds and or thousands of Dollars. The TPG companies get it WRONG all the time. Look at the differance in "Trends" of a MS65 and a PL65 50 cent coin dated 1959 as an example. Educate yourself! Relying on others allows you to spend money without a clue. Would you buy a "Gold" ring from a street vender? Or would you research and buy smart? Again, this is My opinion.

Are you buying to collect or for bullion value?
In a collection they are still only bullion value and no premium unless M.S.64 or better at least according to trends.
It's symantics and not proper terminology consider it raw,unc means no wear may have bag marks as you would find from mint rolls. Proof like, I understand would mean from an unciculated RCM mint set.Charltons describes it as highly polished dies and selected planchetes punched slowly. Proof condition I have always understood to be a step up and frosted in these years.I don't think it would be worth grading these years unless it's your thing.
