Made it to the Alamo Coin Show today. Had to work this morning, and by the time I made it out there, some folks were already packing up. But I've been to 4 or 5 of the local shows, and this was the first one I attended that was in a larger venue and had a different mix of dealers than the ones I usually see. Was not able to find anything on my shopping list, but the deal of the day was a bucket of Walking Liberty half dollars -- $16 each (melt today is $14.93). I got: - 1928-S (G-6)
- 1933-S (VG-8)
- 1937-S (F-12)
- 1939 (VF-20)
- 1943 (XF-40)
- 1944 (AU-50)
For $16 each. Filled 6 holes in my album for just over spot.

Awesome! It's great to find something to fill holes with in your collection. Coin shows are (in my humble opinion) the best way to do this since there are so many dealers under one roof competing for your business. Looks like you got some great silver finds! (I had a similar experience this past weekend but I'll not steal your thunder, I'll create another post!)

Great prices, for one of my favorite series. Maybe getting there at the end is a good thing

There are really two different thoghts on that subject of arriving times at a coin show or almost anywhere. People are funny about that subject. Ever notice how at a party there are always the same people late? Same people early? This idiocy continues to coin shows, camera shows, gun shows, etc. For shows some think the first ones there get the pick of the place. An old Jewish salesperson can tell you an old proverb is you must make the first sale to a customer or the entire day is shot. Completely contrary to that is so many say a dealer just getting ready to leave will drop a price to make that one last sale. Some dealers are tired and almost any price offered is just OK due to no desire to haggle anymore. Regardless, you really did OK.

Saw Worn barbers for $15 last coin show I went to. I wonder if I should have nabbed them.

Speck I'm glad you found something. I'm the show chairman for the Alamo Coin Show which is sponsored by the Alamo Coin Club and not a private venue which keeps things simple. It was a busy day, for me as I like to make myself available to everyone. We had a very busy and wonderful Children's Auction. I hope you had a chance to glance at the exhibits,I'm the one that had the Mexican currency. This time I didn't have a chance to even photograph the show. I'm glad you found one. Great show, but it was a scorcher outside. It was a record high for the day, it was only 106 when I was loading the show cases outside at 5:00pm. Hope to meet you in November on the 19th when we sponsor the next show.

fcrazo -- you did an awesome job. The displays were great. I didn't know ANACS was going to be there, that was a pleasant surprise. I heard the children's auction going on, sounded like they were having a great time.
Look forward to going back in November!

Yeah, ANACS is a regular in our summer show and will also be in our November show. The Children's Auction was awsome, I was the Auctioneer for that event. I love being heavily involved in the show.
