Someone from Australia wants to buy a silver coin from me, and I looked up at US Postal Office web site, it said mailing in silver/gold coins to Australia is prohibited. See the link below

I have received silver coins through the post from the U.S., without the slightest sign of a problem.

I should imagine numismatic postal aution and coin dealing indusrty in the U.S. would cease to exist, if the mailing of gold and silver coins through the post was not allowed to happen.

If the US Mint can send silver coins to Australia, I reckon anyone in the US can. I have purchased silver coins from the US Mint and had them delivered with no problems.
life is a mystery to be lived not a problem to be solved

On the customs form label them as machined metal discs. It is indeed against usps regulations to ship coins to australia. Machined Metal Discs however are perfectly ok to ship and since coins are a type of machined metal disc you wont have any issues with scanners or attract any unwanted attention to the package.

Just mark it "numisic items".
I have sent and recived heaps of silver coins to the US.
As long as there isn;t any bugs or seed in the package I can't see the problem.

Though most people in Australia are unaware of it, Australia Post has regulations in place refusing to allow "coins and banknotes" and "bullion" through the post; the USPS interprets this "Australia has a ban", despite those same AP regulations allowing for $200 face value of collectable coins.

I'm not aware of anyone having their coins or bullion seized by Australia Post. The only people with power to seize are Australian Customs, and there's no Customs regulations against coins or bullion.

Just make sure any coins you send anywhere are not easily identified. You could send a million dollars in coins to anywhere as long as no one knows you are doing that.

Sometimes that rule is there simply to discourage valuable packages from becoming a target for theives. You may face some risk with customs, tho, so deal accordingly.
