Here is some grading practice on strike.

Note the clasp, stars, and bust line on the OBV and the Shield on the REV in relation to overall wear.

XF-45 is my guess.... tough one.

EF40, graded tight. I could see 45. The talons are what strikes me (pardon the pun) - they're the highest point of the reverse, yet pretty strong. That makes me think this is a decently-struck coin (better reverse than obverse - the, um, cleavage area is weak as you'd expect from a weakly-struck example) which has seen normal wear.

If it were a Half of that year, I'd be all about trying to pry it out of your hands. Nice, honest coin.

Yeah! I agree. XF at best. But this is a keeper for the future.

I will trade if off in a couple of years for an AU or MS.
