Hey all,
My name is Sean and I have always saved coins but never had time to collect. Well now I do and have been roll searching for weeks and I think I have found my first real treasure, I think it was in my back to coin-star pile and some how it looked weird. I would like know what to do to get it to the right people to give it a number so my family will let it go and stop thinking I am nuts and over obsessed with a new hobby (i think their the ones nut's). Please give it to me straight, thank you. Sean

In order for a misaligned die to have anything more than normal coin value, the misalignment must be off enough to cut details out of the design opposite the thick rim.

unfortunately what you have found is exceedingly common.

and that was what I thought at first but now with a lighted 8X mag, looking at picture head south from the date, and it looks like the begining of a word or even a number, like 88 from the 88 penny, looking from the Y in liberty north you can see to as far as I can tell its a banner around some ropes with a pattern from the liberty are all the way to and threw the date.

Ok, I am trying to break this down for anyone still interested, this picture should bring in some more help. This is two coins on the obverse, I put 2 red dots at the spot that looks like it could be claws, the red line is what I thought was a word or the 88, so it could be eyes, the single red dot is a detail that incorpatates the #2 into the "d" and if you could see it a #1 at the edge of the coin..... look at lincons Bowtie and see the detail inside it? this patten goes up to the "w" in we and looks amazing.

Just looks like damage to me. You can see on the rim that it has taken a few hits over it's life. The brain likes to play tricks, making you think you see something there thats not really there, like bunny rabbits in the clouds, or Elvis's face on a piece of burnt toast.
