Ouch...that really stinks. But what can you do? Its not so bad when you find em inside of cent rolls.

I took $260 dollars in rolled coins to my bank. (W.F.) I had saved up the change Q D N. They would not take them. They would only take rolled coins if in clear plastic wrapper? They said it was because people were putting in coins of other denotations. I asked if they were weighting the rolls and I got a blank stare. I called customer service as I was mad after spending the morning rolling it up and was told. It was the division manager in my area that was having the problem and decided to stop tacking in rolls from his customers. I had to go to the other side of town to turn them in.

i bank at chase. so far I have not had a problem brining in rolled coin. HOWEVER. I have been duped on a few occaisions with customer dimes. one time when I took out $500 or so in CWR's, $50 of them were PENNIES stuffed in the middle! luckily since I was just AT THE BANK they refunded me. but they said if it happens again, its my own risk. I totally understand that. so a few times after that, I stood there checking each roll at the window and low and behold I found a few more. policy at CHASE is that the tellers cannot look through the rolled coin, which is a good thing considering the increased chance of finding goodies, but, also ups the risk of things like this happening. I told them to check their stupid security cameras to find out who dropped off dimes that week because what was going on is FRAUD, a federal crime. when the economy is tough, people get desparate.. always make sure to check your rolled coin BEFORE you leave the bank...

Some banks require CWR to have name and phone. There's no reason banks should be allowed to pass short rolls.

Someone just posted the other day that they had searched a couple rolls of cents and each roll went cent-dime-cent-dime-cent-dime, etc...

I agree that they should get customer info from people that drop off coin. At a few banks that I dropped off coin, they got all of my account info and put it with the coins so they would know.

The Bank I go to previously had people put their name and number on the roll. They then found out it was illegal, I'm not sure why. As far as weighting a roll I think there would be to many differences in weight. A roll of cents could be any different weight with pre 1982 cents mixed in with Zincoln cents. I would also think this would apply to other denominations. My best luck has been with a $25.00 box of cents bank wrapped.
