I'm a little reticent to post this after all the recent discussions on CCF about the morals and legality of altering coins. I know its not illegal and I have no issues with what I am doing.
I dig up several thousand cents over the course of a year metal detecting. Most are corroded and need half an hour in the rock tumbler before they are even roll-able.

So I acid cleaned a handful and took them to Mexico with me.

Here is what I came up with for the first batch I'm not sure I happy with the results but it kept me entertained for three days so overall it was a useful exercise.
I have to think on what to do with the others.

can you tell a difference between the copper pennies and zinc pennies when you are cutting?

I don't cut Zinc cents. They are easier to cut but tend to corrode very fast once the core is exposed. So I only use pre 1981 Cents.

Yes I could and do but if you work out the time involved to make it then I'm working for less than a dollar an hour..
Not that that really matters as I do it for fun anyway

I'll pay you $2.00 an hour and your shipping costs.
