I recently bid on a District of Columbia Quarter because it is the last one I needed for my collection. (Roll hunting can become exhausting) The bid was 30 cents and free shipping. (value $0.25). I won the bid. The seller sent me an email saying that paypal will charge him $0.27 for the purchase so don't even worry about paying. He left me positive feedback, marked as paid, and sent me a tracking number.
I offered to pay for the quarter and the stamp but he refused. He told me to just give someone else a small gift one day.
I know this is ONLY a free quarter, but it means so much more to me now. =)

It's true, for every crook, there's probably ten nice people who will bend over backwards to even make their pickiest customers happy. True, even a small percentage of crooks is enough to make for a pretty perilous place, but there are nice people out there!

May I ask, who was the seller?
People like this should receive more business.

I've run into some honest sellers who after the deal went through actually lost money on the sale. When I find that happens I always include a couple more $2. If they are nice and honest I can be also.

This is actually a really good idea for people that sell on E-Bay. One small good and honest action can make people customers for life. Great story.

Quote: some people know money is not everything. Great words to live by. Money can make people mad. Realizing that it is not the whole point to life can really change you. That guy only lost about a quarter which is no big deal, but the value of what it did was worth way more. It's the kindness of some people that really makes you want to pay it forward. By the way, if you guys have not watched the movie "Pay it forward", then you really should. Great movie.

Hate to be a wrench but he's just buying feedback though I've never seen it in this degree. He's rocking! Sometimes that's a good deal for us. I watch the .01's free shipping 4 seconds to go :)

Quote: Hate to be a wrench but he's just buying feedback I honestly don't think this is the case. I think more realistically, he was hoping to get a few more bids for the coin. All other District and National Park Quarters have a starting bid for $.99 with a S&H fee. Beside, if he is buying feedback, it worked to my advantage. I choose to believe that there are just nice people out there. =)

Paypal charges 2.9% + $.30 so I think he saved money by giving it to you for free :)

I have bought plenty of coins of E-Bay. I think E-Bay gets a bit of a bad rap. I have yet to have a really negative experience. Considering there are literally tens of thousands of sellers, it can be expected to have a few rotten apples in the barrel.
