Here's the last one I'm worried about. I was worried before. I got it today and now I'm wondering if this is even the same coin I purchased. The one I remember paying for doesn't look anything like this. I don't know much about these and the risk wasn't terribly high, but hopefully some of you have nicer things to say than I do. Thank you again in advance.

Looks to be graded by pcgs.....I wouldn't worry too much. Also camera pics can change things.

Ha! Well, a lot of my worries will be determined by what you folks think of the grade on this.
I bought it from a good dealer. I spent a fair amount of time studying it, but when I got in hand today I didn't recognize it. I photographed the coin before purchase and have verified that indeed it is the one I paid for. It just doesn't look much like it today.
That's okay.
So Vermontensium and mkman123 what do you think?
Thank you again.

These particular Half Eagles are tough ones. I am calling AU58. I see what looks like a little rub. It's a really pretty coin :-)

I was also thinking 58, though I could go as high as 61 or 62 given the reverse luster.

Not so sure about that reverse luster Johnny. Looking at it up close, I think 58 is a fair grade.
Considering it's in a PCGS Genuine holder with "altered surfaces" as the reason for no grade, this should sell for a little above melt.
I'm not to disparage a seller, Lord knows the coin business is a tough one. But the seller told me it had been in a 62 holder and he resubmitted expecting 63 or maybe even 64. After looking at these pictures up close, there is no way this coin could ever hope for 64.
I won't buy from that seller again.

I would think AU53/55 because the high point on the wing is almost gone.
It shows quite a bit of wear on the puffy parts of the feathers.
And there are a number of hits on the obverse and reverse.
I think it is a little rough.

Thank you all for your assistance and opinions. The seller has agreed to a refund without any fuss. That's welcome. A good learning experience for me, and cheap.
