realeswatcher Essentially I agree completely with what you are saying - but on the practical side - it takes an expert in the series to really know strike and survival facts. This means that pricing will always be subjective based on what the buyer and seller actually know. So while I know that the older 1842 is worth FAR more than a comparable grade in the later style - the best a price guide can do is "estimate" - it is a guide not a bible.
Also in reality a coin is worth only what you can sell it for.
