Yes they look like die scratches to me.

As you look around you will find that die scratches are exceedingly common on coins. They do help identify the exact die that struck a coin, thus they are called "markers"

Thank you for that info coppercoins. It is only now that I know about die scratches being significant to identifying a marker.
