I'm sure many are aware of this already but I just found out that the current "loonie" was actually supposed to have a voyager theme like its predecessors but the master reverse die was lost in shipment between Ottawa and Winnipeg, so a new design was necessary. I thought that was very interesting. But my question is does any one have an image of or info on possible prototypes or tests of those coins? Is it possible a few would have been made from the die? If they do exist what do you think they would be worth? Just curious.

Lost? And it hasn't been found yet? I'm assuming it would be priceless and quite foolish to try to sell it if in fact it does exist. How does something like that get lost anyhow?

The Stanley Cup doesn't get thrown around in the post, so why would they do that to an item of greater importance? If that were my employee I'd fire 'em and make sure that negligent person can't get an important job again. What a liability!
