Hi Folks
Came across this 1945s quarter in change recently. And looking at it, it appears a recent attempt was made to clean the coin (no not by me.) It is not in the best of shape and I know cleaning coins is highly frowned upon. My question is would it do any further harm to finish cleaning it or leave it as is. Sorry for the poor pictures but it was the best I could do Thanks for any opinions
My mistake should of been posted in modern coins. If any moderator wishes to move to to the right category that would be fine

Odd toning, but nothing jumps out at me that it was cleaned. I would leave it as is.

I'm not sure that it is really worth anything more than melt value. So if you really want to clean it up to have a shiny coin in your collection I don't think it will hurt the value, except that it may be harder to get another collector to buy it from you in the future (but someone buying it for silver value won't care).

The quarter is worth nothing more than the value of the silver it contains so, if you want to clean it it is not going to affect its current value.

That way you can see for yourself the effects of cleaning.

I realize it is worth nothing more then melt. Just looking at it just appears someone attempted to clean it and it looks bad in hand but I may wrong. Got a 1923 Buffalo nickel from the same convenience store ( not at the same time different days.). Apparently someone was spending old change. I will leave it as is and put it back into circulation and maybe someone else will come across it.

You can put it back into circulation by mailing it to my address.

In that case, could you just give ME the seven dollar quarter? I'll even send you a self addressed stamped envelope and a crisp new dollar bill for your trouble!

If I was able to but I don't think I have enough post but you would be more then welcome to it. I don't actually collect coins more into notes and commemoratives but I do check change just to see if anything interesting shows up.

I will hold onto it. When I get to 250 post when ever that will be don't post much but who ever wants it when I reach 250 posts can message me and they can have it, only fair way to do it I think.

Looks like an original surfaces coin to me, higher grade at that.
Just has uneven toning. Nice
