That's a really cool design, but I'd suggest building the upright, at least, from 1". 3/4" is going to be flexy at that height with the weight of a DSLR hanging off it.

Was it here that I saw the link to the guy who had converted the upright to a bench drill press into a copystand? Now, that was a wonderful bit of re-engineering. I've been looking for a burned-out drill press ever since.

Heres something I scrapped together. Seems to work for me pretty good.  The uprights are closetrod shelf brackets screwed to the bottom side of a 1x12. The horizontal piece is scrap leftover from hanging garage door track. Everything leftover from jobs I have done. Even the lights. The light straps are from a garage door opener. The camera mount cost me 25.00. Not the prettiest, but for 25.00. Hey.

I'm sorry, but I can't resist. As Jeff Foxworthy would say: "If you use a piece of garage door track and closet rods to make yourself a camera stand, you might be a redneck". Only in jest Southern Yankee, I think it's great.
