I saw people buying bank rolls and searching for rare coins. If I searched half dollars how do I know what to look for? What years are 40% 90% silver? Is there a minimum I have to buy and do I have to special order? Do I rewrap the bad ones and sell back to the bank? Thank you :)

I think he meant google. He's right, google is your friend. But i'll try to help out.

90% silver were from 1964 and earlier. 40% silver was 1965 to 1970. There is no minimum that you have to buy from a bank, but some banks may not have any rolls. You can ask around at banks if they have rolls, most might only have a few in the teller trays. Most people on this forum will buy a box, and I think just about all banks need to order them for you. So you can just call around to banks and see if they can/ are willing to order a box for you. The boxes cost $500.

to the Community, coin447!

Thank you murrellington, for remembering that we are here to help everyone that asks.

If you have not done so already, you may want to read through the differ roll hunting threads. Some a very long (for example, the JFK Thread is currently 527 pages), but you should be able to find some good information in them.

However, if you have any more questions, feel free to ask them here!

Yeah just ask the banks. They all have different policies, so make sure to be specific about what you want. Just be polite to them and they won't have a problem wanting to help you.

Oh, forgot to mention that coin roll huntingg (CRH) is extremely addictive. lol. And if you don't get much from your first search, don't give up. You have to be a consistent searcher to get good results. Good luck with your search and remember to post all your results in the thread that jbuck posted. We are all interested in your finds!
