The bust looks a little like Vitellius - Cant say for certain just from the pictures though.

It could be one of a few emperors from early Rome, its definitely real though and around 2000 years old.

If you can read any of the text around the bust it would help in getting an absolute ID.

Yeah - certainly something like that, its a commonish reverse so looking at a few emperors around Vitellius in time may also show some very close matches.

It looks like you could maybe make out about 8 characters around the head with the coin in hand, I've tried but its always difficult from a picture. These will be your best bet of getting an exact match for it.

I agree with you on Vitellius RIC 150, it's the closest match that I was able to find.

I just received my cheap microscope and checked the coin but still can't make out the characters. Will keep trying, maybe a new camera is required.... any excuse to spend.

Haha, get it spent, you cant take it with you!

Those cheapy microscopes are good, I have one too but must admit that sometimes they are not the best for these kinds of jobs.

Try shining the microscopes light onto the coin from all different angles and just use the naked eye, I'm often amazed by what just jumps out at me when doing this.
