The Islamic date written in Western numerals, combined with the Moroccan pentagram, indicate it's certainly from Morocco.
The piece is listed in the Krause "Unusual World Coins" book as an unofficial medallic sovereign, struck during the French Protectorate to commemorate the 25th anniversary of accession of the then-sultan (later King of Morocco) Mohammed V. The coins were struck to the same size and weight specifications as a British sovereign: 22k gold, nearly 8 grams weight, .2352 ounces gold weight. It will be worth at least the gold content (currently $439), probably more if that bezel has not harmed the coin too much.
