I believe this is a token, but I think it might be a replica. Appears to be made from brass. It is real thin and only weighs half a gram. Saw some similar online, but none like this with pictures. Any help would be great thanks!

Yep, it's a German-made rechenpfennig, or counting-token. The reverse legend says "RECHE: PFENING".

The "Nicolaus" named on it would probably be Nicholas I (1825-1855), rather than Nicholas II, because Nicholas II was always portrayed bearded. That date range also fits well with other "foreign ruler" rechenpfennig I've seen, such as Queen Victoria and Napoleon III of France.

By the mid-1800s, rechenpfennigs were mostly used as pseudo-gambling chips, typically sold by the bagful with packs of playing cards.

Some of these can be quite valuable. Rechen-pfennigs like these made by Habelt or Krauwinckel are pretty heavily collected on the European market. This one is not marked as being from either maker, but the quality is quite good compared to many of these and it should have some value.
