Found this in an old box of coins, from looking on the internet it looks like George III half penny but it's so badly worn on the other side no date is readable. Is there any way to date the coin based on this image?

Welcome to our CCF family!

Even though the date is not readable on the reverse, a picture of that side would help also.
Rest in Peace

And a measurement of the diameter in millimeters would help.

it's not a "cartwheel", but the effigy is similar.
it looks like the King is wearing a laurel wreath, and dressed in the "classical" style.
So, I'm thinking 1799~1806.
Also, note the relative positions of the words in the legend: it seems to be "GEORGIVS III REX", only - no D:G, nor "Dei Gratia" - that'll be a help.

The key thing with these pieces, from a North American perspective, is whether it is a genuine 1770s halfpenny or a counterfeit and, if counterfeit, then whether it's a "local" piece or one made in Britain. Local or "colonial counterfeits" are worth much more these days than genuine coins, especially to US collectors who see them as legitimate parts of the "US Colonial" series.

1770-1775 Halfpenny. Tower mint London.
Slight variations can define the exact date, but I think you're gonna find it's way past giving you the needed info I'm afraid.
