What do you think the reverse variety of this should be? I picked this up on ebay paid a little much but had to have it. I'll show the reverse later. Edited by collector67 09/08/2011 12:13 pm

This is a 1858 dime with repunched D in DEI and last A in CANADA.
I picked one up in EF-AU a few weeks back for $130 or so.
I would have bought this one, if I didnt buy the other one recently :).
A lovely variety I think, although I dont know how rare it is.
Believe it or not, I've seen this obverse coupled with a 1858/1558 reverse, on heritage auctions. The coin sold for somewhere between $5000-$10,000.

I have the 1858/1558 with the same obverse. I paid $170 with S/H for the coin above, had to have it, the seller did not want to move on the price much.

Fantastic! I'd love to find one of those, one day.
If its any help, I sent two raw 1893 round top 3 dimes into PCGS, somewhat nervously. They came back safely PCGS XF40 and XF45 :).

"If its any help, I sent two raw 1893 round top 3 dimes into PCGS, somewhat nervously. They came back safely PCGS XF40 and XF45 :)." It seems there are 3 times as many of the 1893 Round tops as 1858/1558's. I don't see more than 1 or 2 per year added to the ICCS Pop. Both tough coins, real nice when you find them unattributed.

Louis says 30, I say weakly struck 40. All undisturbed lustre around legend on obverse and almost no wear on reverse. Couple days ago I saw a weakly struck ICCS coin. I think it was graded F12 or so.
