I ran into a bunch of toned 2010 Lincoln cents today. They all have a firey yellow to light red toning with lots of bright orange. Do coins like this ever bring a premium or are they just a curiosity? The reason I ask is because they are sooo cool looking thqt I am thinking about making some jewelry for my wife out of them, they would make a killer looking necklace

To me they would just be a curiosity. If they were beautifully toned with no spots/scratches/other problems, I may keep a few, even out of curiosity, but other than that, even toned, there are too many of them minted to command any premium. Can you post any pics?

Getting good pics of toning is near impossible but this was the best I could do

Those are pretty crazy, I wonder what the cause was... I'd save out the nicest ones and set them aside. It only costs a penny!

I like the one on the right. The other one's toning is too blotchy IMO.

I have a 2010 or 2011 that is toned bright blue. From what I can tell, you accidentally drop a coin in the litter box and let the cats naturally tone them for you.
