Hi all I have been looking for the best ways to dump medium to large quantities of silver or gold. Mostly clean unweighted sterling silver.

The best I have been able to find so far is 90% spot of the pure silver weight. I have also found one guy saying 95% in downtown la however I have yet to try him just yet.

Anyone know some good (and honest/ reputable) people or companies who give 95-98% for sterling? I am in LA California if that matters. But I am willing to mail for legit good companies paying nice percents.

Welcome to CCF....

I like ebay, many do not for fees an such. I figure they provide a service to rare an unique things once not easily accessed, and a easy way to convert items into money when need be. I like waking up an checking my ebay to see something I did not need any longer has been sold for sometimes good amounts of dying dollars. They may be near death, but still real key to survival, paying the bills, buying Pm's, etc....

With that being said, if you sold 2500 worth of silver, you would loose about a hundred to each pay pal an ebay. Again, most knuckle heads push bids way to high on ebay as well on silver an gold which helps counter the fees, as that fellow born every minute P.T. spoke of shops there often, mostly that guy is me, lol. That is why I like it, even though I don't fork out multi hundreds for one real cool bar of silver. But that is just me, everybody has there limits, and 100 bucks has been mine for one oz. of silver, like a lunar snake or dragon for example....

chris,

Silver isn't weighed in "mediums to larges", but it sound like your best bet would be a manufacturing jeweler.

oh yeah sorry I didnt specify the actual weight lol. Basically lots as small as 20 oz or up to 200 oz.

As far as jewelers I've only seen them pay terrible amounts like 85% of spot max. Should I be looking at specific jewelers? There are some that give higher then 90% of spot?

@ silverhawk Yes I definitely do sell on ebay for smaller lots :). For 1 oz or even half oz coins bars or any silver really. It is great for the little bits but I would love to find someone capable of paying me good $ for bulk, so far on ebay I have not had such luck with the bulk.

The reason I say manufacturing jewelers is they can melt your sterling and use it. Otherwise, it gets refined to 999, then alloyed to 925, two extra expense steps.

My house is the very best place to dump Gold and Silver. There is no cost to dump those metals here, and we even provide refreshments such as cold beer or a nice espresso if that is what you like. My dog will even let your kids ride him around the yard. All you have to is back into one of five garage bays and offload your metal, collect your drink of choice, and kids if they went for a ride on Tucker, and drive away.

Ha ha! I love it! What a great way to point out the difference between the words "sell" and "dump"!

And when Tim runs out of garage space to accept your dumps, I volunteer to accept all future dumps, at NO cost to you of course. If you need help unloading your stash, I will also provide labor, again at no cost to you.

Another nice feature of silver, as opposed to, say, used tires. There's never a problem finding a place to dump it.

Lol thanks Tim and Merlin, I will make sure to keep you fellas informed when I shovel my silver up in to the ol semi truck, then ill cruise on over to your place to dump that junk off! :D

Also I suppose its worth calling around to decent sized jewelers to see what they'll offer. Worst that happens is I tell them to anger your prices suck I am donating it all to Timmah!
