Can someone tell me when the canadian mint stopped minting coins in silver. I have many dollars from 63 to 68 and was wondering how many if any are silver. Thank you for any info

They are still minting in silver, never stopped. Maple leafs are awesome. If you mean circulating coins, the last regular issue dollar in silver was the 1966. My Krause shows a .500 silver 1972 smaller bust, but only 341,598 of them minted. Doesn't look like there were any 67's minted, so all your 63-66 coins are silver.

There were no circulating silver dollars minted after 1967.Dollars dated 1968 will not be silver, they are also smaller than those dated 63 - 67.
I just noted the previous post. To clarify, the centennial dollar of 1967 with a mintage of 6,767,496 was indeed silver the same as the previous years it just had a different design.

OK - the 67 and previous dollars were .800 silver. In 1972 they started minting special designs for coin sets, the size and composition of which has changed over the years. These coins were never intended to circulate.

Quarters and dimes are also silver before 1968 however there were some of each minted in 1968 that were .500 silver. To further confuse things some 1967 10¢ and 25¢ were .500 silver and some were .800 silver. While we are talking about those 2 years here is another interesting fact. In 1968 approximately half of the Canadian nickel dimes were made at the Philadelphia Mint in the U.S.A.

My Canadian coin albums haven't seen the light of day in probably two decades. I'm looking fiorward to digging them out in the near future, and continuing work on them.
My favorite Canadian coins were the early silver dollars. I think I have most of them.
During my high school and college days my favorite coins to collect were the Canadian silver dollars, half dollars, nickels, and cents.

Just started to collect Canadian coins after 55 years of collecting US only. Starting with the maple leaf coins, especially the privy issues, but may branch out into the Dollar coins.

Here's a better pic. Cameras are so good now, you can see flaws you don't spot with naked eye. Still, one of only 18,000 minted. I'm still trying to learn how to get the obverse and reverse images combined into one picture. Could use some help on that.
