I noticed a few different listings recently on a certain "_bay" site which are seemingly normal coins that are gold "enhanced" what's up with that? Are they comming from the Mint? Are they actually worth more?

I think you are talking about gold electroplating. Unfortunately no coin that has undergone this procedure is worth more then face value. The State Quarters have sets like that. Is that what you are talking about?

Goto the afore mentioned site and searh for "Gold enhanced" there appears to be a wide variety mostly quarters. I don't know if it is eletroplating or not, if it is, I guess I'll search the boards I'm sure there is lots on that already.

Those are really no different then colored State Quarters. It almost looks like it was painted on. Unfortunately they are still face value. It also adds no numismatic value either. Hopefully someone will come along that knows a little more about them.

eBay is not a dirty word around here. There is actually an entire Discussion bored just for that. We post interesting items we find and once people here reach 50 posts we can link our auctions to here for others to see if they want.

Its funny how Coin Vault passed these colored coins as something valuable and collectible and they are not.
