I don't understand overcharging for shipping on ebay. Just list it BIN for the price you want.

What about a higher starting bid with the least you are willing to get for the coin?

That price is a little high. I wonder why he only offers expedited shipping. When I read it further I noticed the auction ends in 2 days and his estimated delivery time is September 22 or September 23. I have sold on ebay plenty of times and priority shipping with insurance and a delivery confirmation don't add up to $37.30. And when I ship it out it would probably get there around the same time.

Sometimes I think that Free Shipping and a low starting bid is way more enticing. It's a risk, but for some reason I think they end up selling for more.

Low starting prices and free shipping, in my opinion, do increase the attractiveness of an auction.

I, personally, will skip over most items due to shipping and starting bid prices only.
Rest in Peace

Either reserves or higher starts cost more in insertion fees.

Some sellers are looking for bidders who don't read the "smallprint".

I for one add count the shipping price as part of the overall cost when I purchase. I think what he is doinng here is high shipping cost + lower sell price = less ebay fees. There are no fees for shipping.

There are fees for your shipping now to avoid this kind of stunt. You can still report the item for crazy shipping fees (and I just did).

Sellers get 50 free insertions/month and those auctions can be started out at any price without incurring extra fees(FVF only)

There are no fees for shipping.

That has been changed now, FVF is calculated on winning bid+shipping charges. No more fee avoidance with outrageous shipping on 99 cent items.

I never got these auctions where there is a $10 restocking fee and this fee and that fee. This guy is crazy. Anyone dumb enough to bid on his auction with all the other thousands where s/h is not $40...
