It appears to be genuine. The weight and measurement are correct and I see nothing on the surface to make me suspect.

It is a Faustina Jr Denarius, RIC 730, RSC 255, BMC 167:

OBV: FAVSTINA AVGVSTA, draped bust right
REV: VENVS, Venus standing left, holding dove & scepter.

As for value, I checked my resources and I did not find any like it for sale. However, there are some denarii that are similar, and in the about the same condition selling in the price ranges of $135 to $175. I may be way off the mark with this assessment as this coin is not generally what I look for in the market place. Others may chime in with a much better assessment. I hope I have helped a little.

Regards,

JW

No apology required. Your English is much better then my Italian which is non-existent. To answer your question, I collect Roman Republican and Imperial coins, but I have stayed away from the women behind the throne. Only because I can find tons of information on the Emperor and scarce information on the women. That's a generality of course, and I do have a few of the more common women such as Julia Maesa and Julia Domna.

If you paid 60 euros at today's exchange rate that would be approximately $82. I think you have a reasonable if not very good value for your money. Like you, however, I buy coins because I want to have them in my collection, not for resale. I have sold a few, but not many.

Regards,

JW
